I'm not one of those super cool people who think they should have a blog here on DA. (Some people are so much more cool.) But I've got a rant for you, certain artists: this place may be called deviant art, but I'm pretty sure that's just the title and not an issue to promote real deviancy.
Not calling out specific artists, because I can't remember your names anyway, however I see it a lot with people taking the line art for Naruto: you take cleaned-up lines, change the color scheme from the original work, maybe add some little bits here and there, slap your "original character"'s name on it, and voila! Twenty minutes later people are raving up and down at your talent and the adorable-ness of your OC... when that's not your original character. It's not even your original art. That's someone else's original character and original art, and that art is copyrighted and you don't even give the original artist credit. You don't even mention, "Oh, yeah, I didn't draw this, I just colored it to make it look like my character." You just took it and called it your own, in every way. (And then mysteriously get pissed off when myself and others call you on it. Hm.)
Are we 5? Are you 5? You think it's yours just because you colored it and gave it your OC's name? If others and I can walk up to our bookshelves, pull out a manga and flip it open and see the exact same thing, it's not your original work unless your name is on the spine, cover, and inside of these manga volumes we're looking at.
It is really easy to rectify this situation, and to maybe keep the concrit (or out-right flames) to a minimum: Either learn to draw your own damn original characters or at least mention that the line art isn't yours and give credit to the actual artist. (Not just the person who cleaned the lines, you idiot.)
